New Art Project coming to the Woods

Sara Lowes

We are excited to announce a programme of newly commissioned art work and events, titled Indirect Signs of Presence, which aims to connect audiences with the convergence of artistic practice and scientific research.

A pilot project of 3 new commissions will take place in Wytham Woods this year celebrating the Woods as a consistent site of study. Audiences will be invited to engage in a dialogue with artists and scientists and playfully explore creative interpretations of data while celebrating a site dedicated to measuring biodiversity and change.

The project will be managed by Sara Lowes (left), a curator and composer with interests in the relationship between art and science in contemporary culture and multidisciplinary research. Sara currently works at Modern Art Oxford as Curator of Creative Learning and was Composer in Residence at the National Graphene Institute at Manchester University from 2014-15.

We look forward to bringing you more news about the project as it takes shape over the coming months.
