Inside the Bird Boxes

Sunday 10 May

Go behind the scenes of the Wytham Tit Project and meet some of the residents in our nest boxes, before retiring to the Chalet for a poetry workshop inspired by these feathered veterans of Wytham research.

Blue tits and Great tits have been studied at Wytham Woods since 1947, and during the intervening years researchers have monitored all the breeding attempts in these boxes and individually-marked all parents and offspring (spanning up to 40 generations), making this one of the longest running ecological studies of marked wild individual animals in the world.
