The Poetry of Badgers

Join us for our fourth workshop of the inaugural 'Woodland Words' residency, led by our Writer in Residence, Sarah Watkinson.

The Poetry of Badgers - Programme Outline*

10.45am – Participants meet in Wytham Woods Main Car Park: Introduction by Sarah Watkinson, then walk up to the Wytham Chalet.

11.30am – Meet Chris Newman at the Chalet; see badger data-sampling in action

12.30pm – Meet Tanesha Allen during lunch at the Chalet (bring a packed lunch – tea/coffee/biscuits provided)

13.15pm – Presentation on Badger Research by Tanesha Allen

14.00pm – Poetry writing workshop with Sarah Watkinson and Romola Parish

16.00pm – Close

*Timings are flexible and may change to adapt to session content on the day.


  • Please bring a notebook and any pens/pencils you may wish to use during the writing workshop or to take notes during the morning.
  • There will be a cameraman present to capture some footage for use in a short video about the Wytham Woods Writing Residency. If you do not wish to be filmed, simply let us know.
  • Please wear suitable clothing for the weather forecast, and sturdy footwear.
  • Refreshments are provided for tea breaks but please bring a packed lunch with you.
  • If you book a ticket, and find that you can no longer attend, please cancel your place, as we will be running a waiting list for this event.
