Another successful springtime session of Badger watching evenings were conducted in Wytham Woods in May, with over 100 people in attendance. The free public event offered a chance to learn about and hopefully see these elusive woodland creatures.
Small groups were positioned near known active setts to sit in the fading light of the evening. They had to be prepared to be still and quiet for over an hour in the hope of a glimpse of their white striped noses lifting out of their burrows, to go foraging for food.
The evening started with a brief talk on the life habits, natural history and folklore, before being guided to an allocated sett.
These badger watching events were kindly funded by the Environmental Sustainability team for education and outreach.
