The Green Estates team have now installed five Chronolog posts at Park Farm, to provide a historic record of the place over years or even decades.
The posts, funded by the Environmental Sustainability team, allow visitors to the riverside meadows to take photos from a fixed point. These are uploaded to the cloud and automatically turned into a time-lapse video for each camera, giving us a pictorial history of how the farm’s landscape changes with the seasons and with shifts in management.
The new posts join several existing ones at Wytham Woods, where they’ve been in use since 2020 and have proved both popular and useful – hundreds of visitors have uploaded photos, and the results have helped the team understand subjects like how grazing pressure from deer is changing over time in different areas.
You can view the time-lapses from both places on the Chronolog website – search for ‘Park Farm’ or ‘Wytham Woods’ to see a map of all the cameras, or just follow these links for a couple of examples.
