Bear Wood project announced

Two acorns rest upon a large oak root

This month the Wytham Woods Team launch a new fundraising campaign, asking for donations not only to support their ongoing conservation and educational aims, but also to fund a new tree-planting project on land bordering the Thames. Named 'Bear Wood' after the hill which rises up alongside, the new woodland habitat will be planted on an area of neglected rank grassland, helping support a much wider range of species.

The Wytham Woods Team are inviting donors to their 2022 campaign to grow their own ‘oakling’ from a heritage acorn collected from some of Oxfordshire’s ancient oak trees, which they will be able to bring back to the Woods to be planted in 2024.

Find out more about the 2022 appeal campaign, and follow our progress by keeping an eye on our social media; Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. We will be posting regular updates about Bear Wood, the fundraising campaign, and our acorn-growing!
