Following the appointment of Penny Boxall as our incoming Writer in Residence, we are thrilled to announce that we have her successor (2024-25) already waiting in the wings. Charlie Lee-Potter is an award-winning writer, poet, artist and literary academic, who brings extensive experience from her previous career as a BBC Radio 4 broadcaster. She teaches English literature and creative poetry-writing at the University of Oxford, life-writing at the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing and is a writing advisor for Oxford Writing Mentors.

Charlie’s interests span sound installations, printmaking, poetry and creative non-fiction, and among her plans for her year as Writer in Residence is the creation of a Wytham Woods podcast bringing in writers, artists and performers, to produce a unique auditory experience for listeners which would draw attention to Wytham’s vital scientific and conservation work, as well as its natural beauty.

Charlie will spend this year fully acquainting herself with the Woods and its people, and forming plans for her podcast, sound pieces and writing. We look forward to welcoming Charlie to the Wytham Woods family and seeing how her plans develop throughout the year.
