Established 100 years ago, the Hill End Outdoor Education Centre has been a cherished part of childhood for generations, giving life-changing outdoor experiences to over a million people in its long history.
Its mission is to provide exciting and meaningful day and residential learning experiences that inspire children, and every visitor, to enjoy and value nature and the outdoors.
Covering 67 acres of beautiful meadow, woods, ponds and streams, Hill End offers outdoor learning activities led by expert tutors, or space for self-led groups who can also hire its dormitories, camping fields, meeting and classroom buildings.
Hill End was created to help ‘disadvantaged’ children to access nature and remains true to this founding legacy, working closely with charities supporting less affluent communities and those with special needs.
Hill End is a valued part of the Oxford Green Estate, adjacent to and working closely with Wytham Woods on a coordinated approach to land management and education. Groups visiting Hill End can also apply for access permissions through to Wytham.
The Centre is now managed by the Hill End Charitable Trust who are determined to secure its long-term future. It receives no regular funding and relies on its visitors and supporters to keep running. You can read more about this on their website or contact the team at: admin@hill-end.org.
